Our Impact

Sharing the story of 2025

Giving Cornwall’s young talent the backing needed to succeed in their field.

Celebrating twenty years of backing Cornwall’s exceptional young people and sharing the story of this year so far – including a birthday celebration at the Duchy of Cornwall Nursey, our YT20 Gala, the Paul Ainsworth Dinner and our impressive latest cohort of recipients.

Since 2005, the fund has grown into a long‑term commitment to Cornwall’s young talent, with over £600,000 distributed to more than 450 individuals, many of whom have gone on to national and international success.

“Our brightest and best young people are the leaders of tomorrow. Their example will encourage others and will be vital for our nation in years to come. So, it is hugely important that we encourage and celebrate their success.” – Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho KVCO OBE

2025 marks twenty years since the fund’s first grants were made to a small group of young people including a badminton player, a trampolinist, a cellist and a ballet dancer – a pattern of breadth and ambition that has continued ever since.

Over two decades, alumni have included Olympians, professional dancers, published writers, musicians, scientists and performers who trace key steps in their development back to this support.

The 20‑year milestone has also galvanized new partnerships and fundraising, with a renewed focus on mentoring and on pathways that connect Cornwall’s young people to opportunities locally, nationally and globally.

“As a mum of three, I want my children to be able to fulfill their dreams and I have always spent any spare money we have on Aneta’s dance career as she is so talented.

The grants from Young & Talented Cornwall are so incredible as they allow lower-income families like us, to gain opportunities that we simply wouldn’t have been able to do without the financial support.

Without this funding, I was having to choose between Aneta’s travel and the cost of daily living. This support is so needed in our county and I would hate to think that any child would be limited simply because of where they live.”
