Lions Club of St Austell joins forces with Young & Talented Cornwall

The Lions Club of St Austell is collaborating with Young & Talented Cornwall, The Lord Lieutenant’s Fund with a specific award for young talent from the wider St Austell area.

This award will be in memory of Michael Collins; a founder member of the Lions Club in St Austell who sadly passed away in December last year. ‘Mike’ had been President four times and was an active member who gave 54 years of loyal service to Lions Clubs International and our community. The Membership has chosen to remember Mike by donating a monetary award to a talented young person seeking to achieve their ambitions – Young & Talented Cornwall provides crucial support to help fulfil these dreams.

Young & Talented Cornwall, formerly known as the Lord Lieutenant’s Fund, was created in 2005 and is today headed by the present Lord Lieutenant, Colonel Edward Bolitho, OBE. It strives to help those young Cornish individuals, between the ages of 14 and 23, who have demonstrated an outstanding talent in a particular field – be it sport, dance, music, creative writing or musical theatre – but are struggling to achieve their ambition or progress in their chosen career because of hardship or disability.

St Austell Lions and Young & Talented Cornwall believe that no budding superstar should have their dreams dashed due to a lack of financial support or expert advice and urge any potential recipients to apply now using the link below:

Applications will close on 31 July 2023.
