An aspiring young actor, writer and musician from Penzance has been helped on his way to fulfilling his star potential by becoming the latest to receive a grant from Young & Talented Cornwall.

Jowan Jacobs whose talents have already seen him take a lead role in the BAFTA-winning film ‘Bait’, as well as star on stage at the Minack Theatre, is studying at the Oxford School of Drama and is one of Cornwall’s brightest prospects.

Young & Talented Cornwall, The Lord Lieutenant’s Fund, was set up in 2005 to support young people just like him. It gives a helping hand to Cornwall’s next generation of superstars who otherwise lack the means to pursue their dreams fully and is funded by generous donations by sponsors and individuals.

Daphne Skinnard, Deputy Lieutenant of Cornwall, presented Jowan with a grant certificate at The Alverton in Truro. Daphne comments: “Jowan has an exciting and flourishing future ahead of him. He is already achieving great things and has the attitude, determination, and talent to really make a mark. On behalf of Young & Talented Cornwall, I am honoured to be able to play a small role in helping him to achieve his dreams.

“Jowan is a fantastic example of the exceptional talent so abundant in Cornwall’s youngsters – here’s to giving everyone the opportunity to reach their potential.”
